AGENT4CHANGE UPDATE

Alberta credit unions held a contest in February 2008 to identify a cause that credit unions could rally behind and impose change. The contest was focused on youth, specifically because we wanted to know more about community issues Alberta's youth care about. Candidates needed to be between the ages of 18 and 25 and living in Alberta. Student Ambassadors on college and university campuses in Alberta helped us spread the word about Agent4Change, including being interviewed by local media.

The Agent4Change contest received many impressive entries from youth wanting to make a difference in their communities. Many causes were represented including: affordable housing, youth drop-in centres, recycling and changing people's behaviour to be greener. In the end, the video submissions were sent to a public vote and combined with judges' scores. In both, Rob Aronson scored extremely well and became the Agent4Change contest winner with his Spread the Love program.

Alberta credit unions are now in the process of working with Rob to expand Spread the Love across the province. Some credit unions and their members will participate with Spread the Love program on October 16th for Credit Union Day.

ANOTHER CONTEST?

Will you host another contest?

Right now we are supporting our current winner, Rob Aronson, but there is a good possibility we will hold another contest in the near future.
